St Fanahan's Well, Mitchelstown
We are up in the extremeties of North Cork for Herself to tick off a few more holy wells. This was a good one down a long straight raised path to this wooded sanctuary enclosed by three small rivers. A local man we met there told us that St Fanahan is the patron saint of blow-ins - so that's us blessed then.
The peace was interupted by the sound of rapid gunfire - but not to worry said the man, it's an army shooting range over the hill and they're on manoeuvres!
