Steps along the Great Wall of Geelong
We made good progress today.
The drainage went in, the base was levelled , compacted several times before the first layer was carefully placed.
Digging out the dirt to carve the stairs out of the hill was tough, dirty work and i did a lot whilst the two big teenager boys perfected the wall with the correct back fill, weed mat and compacting.
My younger two were fantastic, moving many many wheel barrow loads of gravel from the front drive down the hill to the back garden. In between, they made snacks and filled up water bottles.
There's money in it for them, but even then, their help was willing and happy.
Hopefully, the stairs and 3m initial stage of wall will be finished tomorrow.
I hope all the technical retaining wall gurus out there are happy enough with our progress? Gulp! I was amazed at all the responses to my last few posts!
