Bath-time

A day for some much-needed R & R.

Took a couple of buses out to Twechar and, after a spot of lunch in the excellent community cafe, walked up Bar Hill to the remains of the Roman Fort. The picture is of part of what was the garrison bath-house.

From there I continued along the John Muir Way, and the line of the Antonine Wall, up and over Castle Hill iron-age fort before joining the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath at Auchinstarry. It took me another couple of hours walking along the canal until I reached home. Maybe relaxing, but hardly restful!

A Beethoven triple-bill followed in the evening, with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in fine form. Undoubtedly the highlight, though, was the solo performance of the composer's Violin Concerto by the wonderful Nicola Benedetti. All-in-all a perfect antidote to the strains of the past few days.
