Pointing to the persistently gloomy sky...

... is one of three pre-historic monoliths, The Devil's Arrows, near the village of Roecliffe.

I have lived about 10 miles from these huge standing stones for over 25 years and never knew they existed until yesterday.

According to a nearby plaque, the stones were probably moved around 2700 BC, to their present positions, from near Knaresborough (about 8-10 miles).
