Hinterland

The mountainy hinterland of Gran Canaria is more stunningly beautiful than I could ever have imagined! There are big mountains many over 5,000 feet and steep gorges running down to the coast. Whitewashed villages cling to the hillsides and crops are grown on terraces. For the walker and cyclist alike of which there are many as there are trails everywhere, there are an abundance of cafes and restaurants serving traditional Canarian food. The vegetation is varied some plants familiar others more tropical.
