Good Grief!
Went to Celtic Connections to see Olivia Newton John, Beth Neilsen Chapman & Amy Sky. Having perused the programme before hand I knew it was basically an acoustic session with songs all about grief. However I wasn't expecting almost 2 hours of gloom & doom. Usually it's us Gales that sing about death etc but this trio took the biscuit! I enjoyed their singing and harmonies but there's only so much a person can take hearing about all the folks they knew had died!
Then the bloody man next to me Who came in late and clambered over us all sat and fidgeted the entire time and worse still... he wore a frigging leather jackets. So not only had I to contend with gloomy songs but this massive sweaty creaking hulk who also spoke to his wife through some of the songs. Little did he know how close to death he came!!! & Olivia & co could have written even more dirgy music!
Thankfully John McCuskers band earlier were much more cheery. Creaking groanny man was disappointed she didn't sing about the bloody Ohio! I for once was happy she left it out.
Heres hopping Cherish the Ladies on Thursday lift my spirits!
Even my photo is gloomy & blurry!
