Spring Lake Still Life
OilMan has been toiling over the design of a three part compost bin which he feels will be a good project for Owen to help him build. I don't see much charisma in compost and suggested that an owl box might be a more suitable but OilMan pointed out that he didn't think mounting it on a 20 foot tall pole and raising it probably wouldn't be very suitable for either of them.
A friend and I got together this afternoon and wrote postcards to our own senators (preaching to the choir) and some Republicans who we thought might be on the fence and have the courage to stand up to the tangerine one. I don't really understand why this would be a problem, but there's not much about the predicament in which we now find ourselves that I DO understand. Interestingly, the stamps she brought were honoring the Ringling Brothers Circus which is closing after a hundred years. Perhaps the competition in Washington was too much for them.
The little pond in the shot wasn't there a few days ago. The ground has become so saturated that the water either forms ponds in the hollows or floods the flatlands. Today was a beautiful, sunshiny day and if the weather wonks are to be believed, it won't rain again for a few days. Just as well as in the last four months we have had an entire year's worth of rain the reservoirs are overflowing and the drought is officially over.
