Penarth Pier

"It was in a mist the Tuatha de Danaan, the people of the gods of Dana, or as some called them, the Men of Dea, came through the air and the high air to Ireland."
Lady Gregory

K2 is with us today for a business appointment in Penarth, so K1 and I decide on a day out to the coast.  The mists over the channel are like a veil, isolating the pier on a calm sea.  The coast, the boundary between the two worlds, is always a strong attraction and time spent here is never wasted.  After a coffee and bacon roll in the pier café we have a few hours to enjoy, walking the coast path and the gardens above the promenade.  The sun burns off much of the mist but there's always a hint of it left, as I found when photographing the bandstand in the park.  It's fresh on the promenade and I need my jacket and scarf, but in the shelter of the pier it's like an early summer's day so we soak up the sun.
The photo was taken on arrival about 11.15, before the sun swept the mist and cloud from the skies to reveal the blue ceiling above.
