Los Hervideros
Wednesday 25th January 2017 (1614)
We tried to plan a less strenuous day so explored the south of the island by car. First stop Puerto del Carmen for a very little walk. Unfortunately no small pleasure boat trips only expensive ones. Tried to go to Puerto Calero but too steep from car park. On to Playa Blanca for a walk along the front. Typical busy sea side resort. Nice to have a picnic by the sea but we moved on after a short while.
Stopped at Salinas de Janubio to view the salt fields then a brief stop at a small beach. On to Los Hervideros. Wow! The visit of the day! An amazing formation of rock and tunnel with the sea crashing through. You can see the power in this, also you can see where one of the viewpoints is opposite, lower down the cliff. If it uploads the extra is taken from that viewpoint.
On to El Golfo for refreshments then back via La Geria, fascinating view of the circular dips with walls around ... the wine region? Stopped at Fundación César Manrique, a fascinating house built into the volcanic bubbles and lava flow. That was our bit of culture for the day. Back to the hotel for a rest!
