Stony Brook State Park
Late yesterday afternoon (around 3), Husband asked if we might like to go on a little picnic? I am always up for an adventure, and the kids agreed they would like to go, as well.
Off we went.
However, we had to stop down in Naples for a 9 hole round of disc golf. I had never played this before and for one reason or another, my frisbee (disc) always seemed to be attracted to the surrounding trees! It was an interesting game, but Son assured me I did quite well for my first time out.
Since we had no paper plates, we needed to stop at the store. As I was going in, everyone was chirping out orders for thinga they would like. I came out of the store with three bags of assorted chips and once we were heading out, I realized I had completely forgotten the paper plates!
We stopped in another small town and I picked up the plates and we were on our way again.
Since it was around six-thirty by the time we arrived at the park, we hastily lit the grill and began making dinner, We had chicken shishkabobs, coleslaw, rolls, and salt potatoes. In such a hurry to leave, I had forgotten oil for the grill, along with foil, and (big oops!) tools for the grill.
All in all, the meal was tasty. The slightly charred flavor from the bamboo skewers catching fire added an unexpected element of flavor....Food always tastes better outside, no?
The bridge and little waterfall were just up from where we ate....quite a lovely sight, indeed!
