Old Stones

A lovely sunny day, and Mike's last day off before he's back at work for a week, so we took the campervan for a jaunt.

We had a wander round the community garden in Finstown, where there were lots of plants looking really good even though it's still very early in the year.  Lots of birds singing too, and the sound of the water in the burn.  Lovely.

Then up to Evie and the Brough of Gurness.  We had a good walk around and explore and then, as the wind picked up, retreated to the van for sausage and beans on toast, followed by fruit cake and hot chocolate!  Sat watching the waves, knitting and reading and relaxing.  Pretty much perfect, although we did keep expecting to see Neil Oliver appearing over the horizon!

Home the long way - via Stromness, which is a very long way round, but it did enable me to buy a birthday present for an upcoming 21st.  All in all a really good day out and I can see we are going to have great fun with the van in the months ahead.
