Another freezing day
It has been a very cold January - today the high was a temperature of 3C and all the ponds around here are frozen. But one never feels that cold as inside the house it is so cosy and warm and when one does go out one dresses appropriately and it is fine. This pond was frozen solid and mono seemed the only way to go on this colourless day.
We had the most delicious Burns Night supper last night at book club - a few years ago I would have turned up my nose at haggis but my friend prepared it so well, presenting sophisticated little stacks of neaps, tatties and haggis with whisky cream sauce drizzled on the side. This was preceded by Scottish starters of smoked salmon on blinis Scottish beef on oatcakes and caramelised apples on black pudding. The puddings were Atholl Brose which must be my favourite pudding and mini meringues with more whisky cream sauce and bananas and honey - it was a good feast! Oh and we did spend 5 minutes talking about the book....
