The Pelican
We enjoyed a walk from Nobby Beach along the length of Miami Beach and back. It was ideal as the sun wasn't strong and there was a lovely cooling breeze. The beaches on Australia's Gold Coast are spectacular and it's no wonder they are famous. Unlike other holiday resorts there are no sunbeds/umbrellas for hire - you have to take your own stuff. Strange really as the local councils could make a bit of money!
As there was no shade, we made our way to Currumbin Creek (part of which is Beree Badalla Nature Reserve) looking for sand and shade. Whilst there the Pelican was hunting fish and after flying away came back and was walking the beach; it allowed me to get about twenty feet away and I took a few photo's. It was great to see such a magnificent creature that you don't see often.
