Agfa Optima

This camera, produced in 1959-60, was the first 35-mm camera to have fully automatic "programmed auto-exposure", with use of a selenium meter. The lever on the right (in the photo) is the exposure setting lever, and it has to be held down while the shutter is pressed. The lens is 39 mm, f/3.9 - f/22, with manual focus setting with the help of symbols, and the Compur-B shutter offers 1/30 to 1/250. It's heavy and very well made, and in very good condition apart from the selenium meter (selenium meters rarely survive). There was a whole series of Optima cameras that followed on from this one.
