Harley Davidson...

...museum, which sits alongside the (currently frozen) Menomonee River.
Tom & I went exploring around Walker's Point this morning.  This area was originally settled around 1835 as a fur trading post, gradually becoming a big industrial area;  then came the 70's & 80's which saw it become very run-down with lots of empty, decaying buildings,  and finally in the past 10 years or so there's been a huge boom in condo, office and retail development. I love that they're renovating the old buildings from the 1800's instead of tearing them down! Harley Davidson really spear-headed the resurgence when they bought land here for their museum. They broke ground in 2006, and instead of the traditional ground-breaking ceremony using a shovel to turn over a bit of dirt, they brought in the legendary dirt track motorcycle racer Scott Parker to do a burnout with a HD Sportster! It opened in 2008 and even though Tom has a Harley & we live nearby, we've yet to go inside the museum. One of these days.......           :)
