Ambleside at dawn
MONDAY
Lake Windermere from Waterhead, Ambleside
The weather forecasters' managed to get it wrong again today as the Lake District bathed in the sunshine under blue skies. I have been spoilt for choice blip wise with shots of a frosty Windermere at dawn (main blip and extra) and Ullswater late morning (extra).
The shots that didn't make it today included snow on Kirkstone Pass; various buzzards and kestrels; Aira Force waterfalls; a nuthatch, a red squirrel and Keswick town centre.
It was well below freezing before breakfast when I went out to take this photo. Now I know why the hotel porridge comes with a shot of scotch.
