Glaswegian Escapade!! - Day 2
Riverside Museum reflections, Glasgow
It's been a very long day so I'll be brief-ish again!
- A dark, grey day and a wet morning, but it didn't affect our plans.
- Bus from George Square to the award winning Riverside Museum, where the Tall Ship and grey skies were reflected in the museum's striking facade.
- Bus to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, to listen to the lunchtime organ concert, admire the art collection (one of the finest civic collections in Europe), and have a late lunch.
- Walk up to The University of Glasgow, the fourth oldest university in Britain.
- Visit to the Mackintosh House, a recreation of Rennie Mackintosh's beautifully designed home, pioneer of the Modern Movement.
- Visit to the Hunterian Art Gallery and it's internationally famous Whistler collection.
- Walk to Ashton Lane and The Ubiquitous Chip for veggie haggis, tatties and neeps!
- Visit to The Wee Bar, for a wee after-dinner dram!
- Subway back to the centre of town, the third oldest underground train in the world.
- Supermarket sweep of all sorts of Scottish goodies, including the local Tunnock's Tea Cakes!
- Stagger back to hotel...
- Collapse!!
(Not a great day for photos thanks to the weather and my daft camera. Sorry for my lack of comments, will catch up on my return...)
