Glaswegian Escapade!! - Day 3

View from The Lighthouse, Glasgow

My final day in Glasgow, a city that has surprised me in oh so many good ways! I'd definitely recommend a visit...

- A dry day of stormy skies and sunshine, with one sharp shower and a beautiful rainbow.
- Wandered through the Merchant City quarter and along High Street to the cathedral precinct , taking in the grand Victorian architecture and amazing murals that decorated various buildings.
- Visit to Provand's Lordship, the oldest dwelling-house still standing in the city.
- Visit to St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art, for views over the Cathedral and a cuppa and an Empire Biscuit, a new tasty discovery!
- Visit to Glasgow Cathedral, founded in 1136
- Short walk around the Necropolis, an impressive ornamental garden cemetery modelled on Père-Lachaise in Paris, with views over the cathedral and city, and to the hills beyond.
- Wandered back to the heart of the city and Buchanan Street for a spot of retail therapy!
- Quick cuppa stop at Princes Square, a beautiful mall and a great place to sit and watch the world go by...
- Visit to Rennie Mackintosh's Lighthouse to learn more about the architect and his work at the Mackintosh Centre, and to take in views over the rooftops of Glasgow from the sixth floor viewing platform. We could have gone even higher, to the top of the Lighthouse tower, but neither of us fancied the 160 step spiral staircase!
- To round off our Glaswegian Escapade, a bustling restaurant for pizza and Prosecco!
- Bus to airport
- Plane to Bristol
- Bus home
- Walked in front door at 11pm!
- Collapse!!!

(A backblip as returned home so late yesterday...)
