MARTIN MALADIES...
...apart from the almost certain necessity of a neck re-set after a few years - there's the pick-guard problem...
For as long as I can remember they've been using a nitro-cellulose pick-guard. It's 1.5mm thick. Nitro-cellulose shrinks with time. They glue this super shrinker directly to the wood of the table. Eventually, the shrinking pick-guard pulls the table apart as you can see!
To remove the offender I used a hair-dryer to soften the glue & a very thin spatula - having seen to the cracks in the table & adding wee spruce supports, I'm starting to build up varnish to accommodate the pick-guard again.
