Wednesday: Vancouver Public Library

I went to a great event a lunchtime today (not far from the Vancouver Public Library, seen here), connected with the PuSh festival, which is about theatre and contemporary performances.  There are a few British acts in it, and today's keynote speech was given by the amazing Jess Tom, a performer and writer with Tourette's - she gave a highly entertaining, and thought provoking talk about living with Tourette's and how she managed to turn it into art, rather than give in to it.  I was lucky enough to meet her afterwards but was too shy to ask for a photo.

Finished 'The Discreet Interventions Of Verdon James' by Julian Roach.  It was an entertaining enough read about a very English chap who seems to spend a lot of time sorting out other people's problems - it's mainly set in, and around, WW2 and has a nice English feel to it.  It's not terribly well known - K. knows the author's sister and she gave us a copy years ago when she came to visit.  I've only just got round to reading it.
