Weird Music
Off to Edinburgh for a couple of nights.
The weather wasn't very exciting. We decided to go to the Botanic Gardens and go round the glasshouses, but it turned out they are closed at the moment. So we set out for a stroll, with no particular focus, since it's too early for the snowdrops.
The picture is of the Aeolian Harp - carved a few years back from one of the garden's elms which had to be felled because of disease. We've looked at it a few times and admired its beautiful grain and elegant lines, but never heard it make a sound, until today! There was a little gusty wind and as it passed over the strings quiet chords gradually formed and resonated, a haunting echoey sort of music. It changed a dull day to a magic one.
