MonoMonday:Hills Hoist From My Window

KangaZu is hosting MonoMonday this month and the theme this week is From My Window.

For want of anything more exciting this is part of my clothes line. 
But it's rather less mundane than that.

The Hills Hoist is an iconic image of suburbia in Australia and is listed as a National Treasure.
The first designs appeared around the turn of the century but really took off about 1945 when Mrs Lance Hill had no room to hang her washing because of her growing lemon tree.

They are not quite so fashionable these days but I don't think anyone has come up with something to beat their functionality.
