This Day 28 years ago started at about 2am when I was woken with the words "I think my waters have broken". It was almost 2 weeks earlier than we were expecting so it took a little time and a phone call to the hospital before we realised that this was it. It was no false alarm.

Just over 8 hours later at 10.16 after a tricky birth our first child Emily (star of "See Emily Play" on August 4th) was born.

I can't quite believe it was 28 years ago. I also can't quite believe that the little bundle I first held all those years ago now sits in the pub next to me drinking pints of cider. We must have brought her up properly though because she always buys a round.
