WildWednesday: BathTime

"Hey! Can't a guy get some privacy?" Both the male and female Pileated Woodpeckers were in the yard today. She, as usual came for breakfast and he, came for a bath. Mister spent over 5 minutes in our pond's bog, just splashing around and having a grand time. He positioned himself modestly behind a log so I wasn't able to get a full shot of him. I'll try for a better angle tomorrow. Check my *extra* for a shot of him on a pine tree, taken just before he swooped down for his bath. I just love these big birds! Hope they decide to nest in our BackBack. We've put up two houses designed especially for Pileateds. Watch this space! ;)
