Lotus Flower
Backblipped for 28th June
Spent most of the morning catching up on emails then went over to Pallanza to the Villa Taranto. (The villa itself is not open to the public). In 1931 a Scottish horticulturalist, Neil McEarchan, bought the estate called La Crocetta, and created one of Europe's leading botanical gardens with formal gardens, pools and fountains as well. There is an entire pool of Lotus flowers (Nellumbo nucifera), a new species for me. His original herbarium is retained on the property.
The weather continues hot and hazy but during dinner we had thunder and heavy rain, fortunately we were under cover at the time.
