Great uncle Jack

This portrait of my great uncle, John Patrick Murphy, was deemed to be very modern when it was done, late 1950s. Although I know the artist was a woman, I do not know her name. Some comments about it was that it was not a proper portrait especially as his hands were not clearly identified but were just shapes, yet that was exactly the way he used to hold his pipe.
Today my sister-in-law sent me a copy of his birth registration, born 25th November 1891 but not registered until January 1892.
