What a night, late September back in
87 actually.
I don't remember this photo being taken, but I remember the night...
There were many of us from the BACOMMs course out that night - all in our usual haunt, Grindlay Street, Heriot Watt's Union Club in the City. Exams were being sat, Dissertations were being prepared, lives were being lived, fights were being fought, friendships made and loves forged.
After Grindlay Street we were to the Caves in the Cowgate, and drunk some more, screamed and shouted some more, and then we all headed back to our flat.
Our Flat was horrific. Situated in a six block in Broomhouse, two of the flats were derelict, a complete hoodlum lived in the ground floor and we were on the third.
We all trailed back and the chatting, shouting and arguing continued. I remember having a massive row with one of my flatmates - she could never beat me in political arguments, and she didn't beat me that night.
The next morning... not so good. Himself was still in the Navy and was on breakfast duty.... the car - a two seater suziki. Myself, laying on the parcel shelf in the back, H who took the photo in the front passenger seat, and Himself driving.. We made it to the Dock yard, dropped himself, and then I composed myself and got into the driving seat.
I dropped H off and made it to the end of her street before I threw up - :-( And I still had to cross the bridges... oh dearie me That was a bad day ....
And probably contributed to the aging which took place on my face since then.
