Blade Runner

After a very enjoyable bank holiday weekend away, it was back to work in Derby today.

I decided to stop in Birmingham on my way home so that I could take a final blip of the Birmingham City Centre Floral Trail which this year has been celebrating the 2012 Olympics/Paralympics through 11 specially commissioned wicker figures.

In honour of the Paralympics opening ceremony happening tomorrow, today's image is the figure located outside Snow Hill station of Richard Whitehead, a paralympian blade runner. He was the first ever leg amputee to complete the marathon in under three hours and is currently the world record holder for leg amputees in both the half and full marathon distances.
