What is Real?

An interesting few hours at the Filmhouse today. First off was our regular Socrates Cafe session in the cafe/bar. Lots of possible questions about identity, reality and truth but in the end the first choice was "If we can change our internal narrative about our lives, what is real". Some interesting discussion on the nature of reality, or rather realities. And then we moved on to the question, "Can I just decide to be a woman?" More about identity and realities. Afterwards four of us went in to see T2 Trainspotting. What did I think of it? I think, 'not bad' sums it up. Overall it felt like one of those evenings when you come back from the pub and surf around YouTube looking for favourite scenes from movies, music videos and football highlights. Heavy on nostalgia and the memories of another time but entertaining enough for an hour or two. Strange to be in the main screen in the Filmhouse with perhaps only a dozen other people on a Sunday afternoon remembering seeing the first film in a packed Cameo twenty years ago.
