Campeche
A long day!
John fully recovered but we were up by 5.30am for a taxi to the airport at Oaxaca. We were travelling to Campeche although this involved flying back to Mexico City and then on a different airline to Campeche. Both internal flights so the going through customs part was eliminated.
Campeche is a lovely place, old and attractive. It's on the coast so we hoping to find somewhere interesting to look at. This afternoon we took a land train tour around the city which gave us a flavour for where we are. There are, of course, plenty of ruins in the neighbourhood so it's just a question of how many we see and how far we will go - I'm in favour of one or two smallish places; around here there are Mayan remains so a bit different from what we have seen so far.
The blip is a view onto a courtyard of the cathedral here, the colours of sky against buildings were spectacular. It's much hotter now and more like the Caribbean climate so we won't be needing the sweaters!
