meeting
Our church in Dunscore is covered with scaffolding just now - much-needed renovations are taking place to make sure that the building is watertight and warm - a welcoming place rather than a cold, damp, leaky one - services have been taking place in the village hall since November because of a broken boiler.
Part of the renovation work involves the creation of a heritage centre inside the church building. This will be a mine of information about local history and the stories of people who have lived in the village, including local heroine Jane Haining, who gave her life to help Jewish children in Budapest during the Second World War.
A group of people have been working hard for months to gather information and to plan the centre. I joined them after work today at one of their meetings. Exciting to see how it is all coming together :-)
