The £17 strawberry

Inspired by the sale of a strawberry at £17 for St Valentine's Day I decided to treat my wife.

I purchased some strawberries - at £0.14 each - and placed one in a box with the spare change.  Job done! 

Plus a little gift.

The day started off with a throat like sandpaper.  But as the day went on it eased.

So was able to enjoy a dinner at home, including some special offer oysters (see extra) which I had the fun of opening - or "shucking" - them.  They were subsequently baked in the oven in a lovely cream and gruyere sauce with breadcrumbs.   Yum.
