The Other Orlando

We spent the day in downtown Orlando and its suburbs which are a fair distance from Disney World and the other tourist attractions in the area.  Downtown Orlando is quite modern and has a lovely big park in the center with a lake full of swans and various other types of wading birds.  After a walk around the lake, we went to Leu Gardens, tropical botanical gardens in Winter Park.  Since I have posted so many birds lately, I thought a shot of these lovely gardens, with trees laden with Spanish Moss might be a better choice for today.  After the gardens we went to the center of Winter Park which his quite old and quaint with lots of shops and sidewalk cafes.  We had a delicious late lunch and then we stumbled upon the Morse Museum of American Art which is celebrating its 75th anniversary and offering free admission.  We were pretty tired at this point but decided to have a look.  What a wonderful surprise.  The museum houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany including the artist and designer’s jewelry, pottery, paintings, art glass, leaded-glass lamps and windows.  See the extra.

Thank you all for the wonderful response to my courting Great White Egrets.  I was thrilled to get that shot and it was all the more rewarding that you all liked it too.
