Solitary
I thought at first that this might be a Fieldfare, as we do get those in the winter mixing in with the Blackbirds and feeding on the apples. However, after taking a closer look at its colour and markings, I am pretty certain it is a Song Thrush. The fact that it was on its own is another indication, as Song Thrushes are quite solitary birds.
I think it had been chased away from the apples by the now quite aggressive two Blackbirds that seem to be defending their territory with some gusto, as spring approaches. It looked as if it was new to the area and may have been sizing up a potential territory for itself.
We seem to have got off lightly as regards the stormy weather. We have had rain and some wind and it is pretty bleak out there, but it has not been as wild as it has obviously been in other places.
