Wind Gates
I was presenting some research today into accident trends on artificial climbing structures - a good gig, and well inside my comfort zone - the audience were the members of the insurer Activities Industry Mutual - so a pretty clued up bunch.
The venue was the Hollowford Centre in Castleton in the High Peak - so i was hoping for a wonderful drive down memory lane - this was a prime stomping ground in my climbing youth, and it is a simply stunning area.
Unfortunately Doris had other ideas. Well at least the roads were mostly empty after Manchester - its the first time Ive ever done Winnats Pass* without having to stop for other struggling cars.
Something that was so unique that i risked pulling over and grabbing this blip.
Tonight Doris seems to have passed us by - she was vicious in Derbyshire with trees down and localised flooding - but ive an inkling we'll wake to snow in the North.
*Winnats Pass is a corruption of the ancient local name in the title.
