Steaks with a side order of screaming

Poor little mite still isn't right. She appears to be hungry but then screams and squirms when we try to feed her. Been a job to get any food in her today and as for lying in the pram, forget it!

Tried everything - winding, singing, walking, jigging, swaddling, dummy, Calpol, nasal spray - the lot! Nothing seems to work. Am at a total loss as to what is wrong so just hoping it passes soon and Chuckles comes back. We do like Chuckles.

Original plan today had been to head into Manchester to meet my husband after his meetings for an early bite but we abandoned that when Audrey's hysterics threatened to send me over the edge earlier in the day.
The new plan was to head to our local Italian round the corner at teatime instead. That way we figured if something went wrong, we were close to home to abandon the mission.

We really do try and grab as much of our old life as we can despite having a new baby. I think it's important (otherwise you really do go insane). Our old Friday night ritual was a bite to eat after work so we were determined tonight to make it happen.

As it happened she was pretty good, we managed a glass of wine and a decent chat while she snoozed in the pram but just as we carved into our juicy fillet steaks, although sensing we were about to have fun, she let out her first roar. Other diners heads swivelled, the waiting staff looked on sympathetically and we both looked down at our steaks, forks poised and shot each other The Look. The Look that says, "Are you going to sort this out or am I?"

My husband stepped up and today's blip pic is of him outside the restaurant (through the window), rocking a screaming Audrey while I continued to enjoy my steak inside. Five minutes later we swapped over. It really is very strange to go out for dinner but to dine in a staggered fashion; one of you looking on from outside at the other inside, munching away opposite an empty chair. But its the choice you make if you sneak a bit of your old life and for the record, I still think its worth it.
