taking the mic
My friend Neil is walking along a street in Leicester, guitar in hand. A man opens a door in one of the houses.
Man; “You’ll be a musician then”
Neil; “Aye” (his Cumbrian roots are never far away)
Man; “Hold on a minute.”
Man disappears in to house and comes back with this microphone; “Do you want this?”
Neil; “OK - thanks.”
And that’s it; the exchange is over. A seemingly random encounter. Perhaps the man had been waiting for ages until a musician happened to walk past.
I’ve borrowed it to blip photograph it on the grounds that it might make a useful image for any band publicity material. I’ve produced a ‘sepia’ version as well. Just in case they didn’t like this one.
I’ve never seen or even heard of one of these before. From what I can find on the internet it was made by the Trix Electrical Company of London. It appears to be about the same age as me. It’s listed as ‘Vintage’. Hmm.
