Painting the Town Red
The Welsh are in town. They are here in their hordes painting the streets red, for today's rugby match at Murrayfield.
Welsh dragon suits and flags, daffodil hats, red, white and green scarves, gather at every corner.
We like it when the Welsh descend on Edinburgh; we feel a certain amount of empathy with them and they are such cheery rugby supporters.
Perhaps the rainbow over the city is a good omen for the Scottish Rugby team, but if it is for the visitors, then we will applaud their victory. To my mind, there is not the same competitiveness with the Welsh as with the English.
We were in town to visit the Artists' Book Market exhibition in the Fruitmarket gallery.
What a wealth of talent was on display- anything from cards to books, all hand made.
Tomorrow I may blip the folding cards I bought, but today it has to be the hopeful rainbow.
I will not watch the match for fear that my presence in front of the screen puts off the Scots, who have a hard game ahead of them.
