Pole-dancing red-legged shieldbug
Struggling to find an interesting blipfoto topic today, I found this beautiful Red-legged Shieldbug (Pentatoma rufipes) hanging on the side of a stainless steel pole in our office car park. We may wonder how an insect can hang onto a shiny polished surface but, seen close-to, the surface is actually pretty rough if you are insect-sized!
Adults of this species of shieldbug are partly predatory, feeding on caterpillars and other insects as well as fruits
