The Day of Release. The hens actually seemed a bit non-plussed but they got stuck into the 'lawn' pretty quickly. I'm sure the grass makes the egg yolks sunnier though so there is an up-side to them destroying the garden.

Spent a very soggy hour and a half in the borders this afternoon in increasingly heavy rain but was determined to get the old perennials cut down before the new growth really got going. Finally came in when I could feel the rain running, no pouring, down the back of my neck. As soon as I got changed out of my wet stuff the rain stopped and the sun came out. Just why?
