A Day of Three Bridges

I should have stayed at home and finished processing my pictures from the weekend, I haven't looked at the ones from Corfe Castle or Durdle Door yet. A frosty morning then a day of sunshine and squally showers tempted me out this afternoon. 

I've never been to Bellever for some reason and I know there's a nice clapper bridge there, so I headed off that way today. The road meandered along narrow lanes for miles and still a mile from my destination. I crossed this bridge over the Walla Brook and it seemed to be an attractive setting with a parking place nice and handy. 

I took a couple of shots with the lovely sunshine that you see and then the heavens opened and hit me with hailstones, they did sting too! I headed back to the car quick. the bridge seems to have a very interesting construction. It looks as if it may have originally been a clapper bridge that has been widened and added to to form the present bridge. I have looked online but haven't found any history so far.

Just a short way on I crossed the East Dart river and came to Bellever Forest. The new bridge has been built quite close to the remains of the old clapper bridge so I got my back to the new bridge and took a couple of shots and headed on my way. I decided that as I was having a bridgey afternoon, I'd stop at Dartmeet on the way back as it's quite close and I haven't stopped there for a while. You can see those shots here if you'd like.
