The People's Carnival

On Shrove Tuesday itself, it's time for the local "slapstick", satirical carnival. Anything goes - political comment, dressing up, meeting friends and family. There's none of the bling and glitzy samba of the main Saturday parade. This is late afternoon and the city of Funchal makes the perfect backdrop in the sparkling sun.

I'll try a few extras if the wifi will let me.
