Gallivanting

Much to my surprise it looked as if the sun was going to blaze all day, so after lunch I headed for a wander round Maryhill in Glasgow.

While still run-down in parts, the area has benefited from much regeneration in recent years, as the main blip shows. Gone are the old tenements and in their place are modern flocks of bats. This one sits on the edge of the Forth & Clyde Canal.

Round the corner is a leisure centre where the Maryhill Fire Station once stood and sculptor Andy Scott (of Kelpies fame) has designed some metal gates that now front a courtyard. The extra shows some of the gates displaying the firemen in period dress as an acknowledgement of the building's history.

Fingers crossed there's more sunshine round the corner...
