Cave temple

We left Kandy and drove north towards Dambulla and Sigiriya. So far my blips of Sri Lanka have been mostly countryside or wildlife but there’s lots of culture and history too. Dambulla has 5 cave temples in the rock at the top of a hill. Inside there are rock paintings and sculptures of Buddha of different ages. It’s very dark inside the caves so this was taken with a high ISO and is a bit grainy.


As with almost everywhere in Sri Lanka, there are monkeys. Most of my monkey shots have been badly out of focus but the one in the extras is pretty good. I particularly like its hairstyle!
