Close call
The gift of time is precious. The life we have with those near and dear to us is an irreplaceable gift.
I received this gentle reminder again when this morning was a close call for the hubster. He drives a very long semi-truck & trailer (lorry) and early this morning as he was an hour into his day, he smelled diesel fumes. He thought it was the truck in front of him and after passing him still smelled the fumes. All of a sudden his engine oil light came on and within seconds flames began shooting out from underneath his hood. The hubster quickly pulled over, grabbed the fire extinguisher and proceeded to empty the entire canister. He realized the fire was progressing too quickly so jumped in, grabbed his lunch kit and bag that contained his wallet and ran to safety. He stood by and helplessly watched as his truck went up in flames. I'm so grateful that he was quick on his feet and in his mind and thankfully is okay.
So as I passed this wall clock in my family room, it reminded me of the passing of time and how our days are numbered. We do not know the day or the hour of when we'll pass from this life into the next. I'm incredibly grateful the hubster was granted another day.
