insect(ual)
i want to tell you about a place in austin that i really like that wasn't here when i lived here before, and that place is called south congress books.
a little sleuthing has led me to deduce that they opened about a year ago, down in the south congress trendy area. i think they may be owned (or at least somehow in cahoots with) the same people who own twelfth street books, which is a cool store, but not like this.
---
when i was in austin a couple months ago for the day i noticed the store and stopped in. i was stunned by how such a small store could be so well-curated, but the best part was this section where they basically have salvaged damaged books (particularly large books that include illustrations or photos) and ripped out the remaining good pages, which you can buy at a cheap price to use as prints.
well when i came in that day, they had all these amazing ones of insects. i couldn't really afford to buy any then, but yesterday i went back to see if they still had them. and they did have a few.
so i bought a set of 5, and here's my favorite one, already hanging up.
---
that is my story for the day and i'm sticking to it.
---
in other news i am going to make lots of cookies tonight for a surprise purpose. and then tomorrow, for real. have to buckle down and do these problem sets, no matter how i feel.
