Life through the lens...

' Gool Peran Lowen'.

Or to those who don't speak Cornish,
Happy St Piran's Day.

This is the Cornish flag flying above the church of St Piran and St Michael in the tiny village of Perranuthnoe .  ( The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086)

You can see what beautiful sun and blue sky we have had today. Warm 12C.
No rain, but don't be fooled. The wind is gale force and we had to turn back on our coastal walk from here to Marazion, as it nearly blew me over!

St Piran is the Patron  Saint of tinners.
He is said to have rediscovered tin-mining.
A black hearthstone on his fire leaked a white liquid, which formed a cross atop of the rock.
In this, the flag of St Piran  ( and subsequently the ' Cornish' flag) was born.

We celebrated with a traditional Sunday lunch at the Falmouth Packet Inn.  Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, red cabbage, swede, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, parsnips, and roast potatoes.
All delicious . Too full for pud. So just had coffee and a Cornish gingerbread biscuit .

After which we went for the walk.
See extra photos.

Thank you so much for all your kind comments, stars and hearts.
Please forgive me if I fall behind with comments while we are away.

Hope you have all had a good weekend.
