Eggstravagant
Seen in the window of Betty's in Harrogate. An absolutely enormous egg superbly decorated with a variety of flowers. We didn't go into Betty's having just had a big breakfast at the hotel, but carried on walking around this elegant town and its parks. Down past the Stray and into Valley Park and its fascinating collection of dozens of unique springs which gave rise to the pre-eminance of the town as a Spa and a place to take the recupperatinig waters.
What had begun as a sparking morning deteriorated so rapidly that by the time we left the hotel it was raining which continued for most of the rest of the day. We enjoyed Valley Park, the Magnesia Springs building was open and staffed by knowledgable and enthusiastic visitors. The building has been restored since our last visit which must have been almost 20 years ago. They have ambitious plans to recreate the Japanese Garden and replace Edward VII? Gates into the park.
Had the weather been kinder we might have walked on to the RHS Gardens at Harlow Carr, but the rain stopped us so after a quick scone and coffee at Parliament Street cafe it was back to the car for home. A very wet but safe journey allbeit with the usual nutters around who put all our lives in danger with unbeliveably stupid manoeuvres at speed in very poor driving conditions.
The extra was supposed to be sulphurous spring down at the Pump Room. Phew..... But I can't, at the moment, get it the right orientation havind downloaded from iPhone.
