Fell runners
This morning on either side of Shire Hill, Glossop there was a choice of sporting action. A cycle hill climb up the Snake pass road and a fell race up Bleaklow.
The weather was the same of course, dark and drizzle. I chose the fell run and sheltered under a tree until the runners arrived.
The winner (Jack Ross) lead from start to finish with about 80 runners trailing behind him
The photo shows the main pack heading up into the clouds covering Bleaklow hill.
The 6 mile Shelf Moor fell race includes a very steep climb up the James's Thorn section of the Peak district's 2nd highest mountain and then a couple of miles fairly flat but peat bog topped moorland. Today this part was completely covered in low cloud.
I must say they all (young and not so young) made good time and many of them actually looked like they enjoyed it.
