Goodbye
Today our piano, our first piano, Katie's first and very much loved piano, went to a new home. We have a much better one arriving Friday but to a 7 year old who spends many hours at her piano, Wednesday morning through Friday teatime is a very long time. She cried quite a lot this morning as she "had a happy, special last time with my piano". She learnt a her new phrase of exam music B had set her and was so proud to have it sussed as the last thing on this piano.
Granny and Grandad picked her up from school so that she could go out whilst the actual leaving of the piano happened. She came and crawled into my arms for a little while when she got back. They'd had a fantastic time out exploring the woods, scrambling, hiding, climbing, chasing... Katie too! But coming home to the empty space where her piano used to be upset her. She did well though. I felt for her. Several times she walked past and her hands instinctively reached out to it, without any thought really. She rarely passes the piano without playing it.
We had a nice tea together before Grandad read her bedtime story and she snuggled down with a book.
